Your BTS Style Guide

Cute, Comfy, and Practical

August marks the month we love and hate; the month when summer vacation starts coming to a close, and we begin to replace those sunny summer days with weekend shopping stints to buy planners, textbooks, pencils, backpacks, and clothes. With school just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to wear on the first day back to class. Whether you’re looking to make a great first impression, drag yourself to that dreaded 8:00 am class in true comfy fashion, or dress to impress in the latest style trends, scroll through our Back to School style guide for tips and tricks that’ll turn heads, no matter what you decide to wear. Whatever you plan to wear on that first day, you can find everything you’re looking for at The Shops at Park Lane.

First Impressions

The first day of school is all about first impressions. It doesn’t matter if you’re a freshman who’s new to school or a senior with friends to spare, you just never know who you’ll run into. If you are planning to wear an attention-getting outfit, consider mixing and matching prints or fabrics. Pair a striped peplum top from J.Crew Mercantile with their printed pants for a look that’ll take you from desk to dinner! Printed pants are our personal favorite J.Crew Mercantile buy because you can dress them up with a blazer, or dress them down with a scoop neck t-shirt and it’ll still look good. Consider a daring fashion buy and go for some faux black leather trousers that you can transition into fall or winter outfits!

8 AM Active Wear

Body: Going to class comfy and confident is the ultimate outfit goal and what better way to express yourself than by rocking your favorite brands while looking sporty chic.  Pair an oversized Adidas tee from Dick’s Sporting Goods with a “dad” hat, leggings, and matching tennis shoes for a totally comfy outfit that’ll make you forget you signed up for that 8:00 am Political Science lecture.  If you’d rather wear sweats and sneaks, opt for some Nikes that are bold, daring, and colorful. Combine these sneaks with gray sweats and a black t-shirt for a “just rolled out of bed, but I’m still looking fresh” first day of class outfit. Find statement sneakers like the ones below at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Ruffle Some Feathers

Dress to impress in summer’s latest fashion trends! Ruffle some feathers with an off-the-shoulder top like this F21RED number. Play it up with high-waisted denim and a cute pair of heels, or go comfy in a skirt and a pair of wedges. When you’re wearing a top like this, make sure to opt for light accessories so the focus stays on your ruffles.

Last but definitely not least, make a statement with bold accessories from Charming Charlie. Tassel earrings are the hottest trend right now, and for good reason —you can wear them with absolutely anything. We’re already imagining a black on black first day of school outfit with white tassel earrings and some ultra cute Charming Charlie bracelets like the ones below.
